Tie one on

Well R is getting a little to big for some of the previous ties I made him. I've seen a bunch of bowties online and thought I would try one. I read a few different tutorials and took what I wanted to make my own.

I'll probaly make a few more, tweaking what I did to make it just right!

These are a gift for a friend's one year old. For the elastic ties I used this tutorial, that I've used before because it's really easy, the bowtie onesie is my own pattern.

Baby's Quilt

Well I still haven't been doing too much. But, I have been inspired by many baby related things. When my Mom came to visit aka "check out our new place", we went to look at fabric for the new baby's quilt. I wanted something different. There are so many amazing fabrics out there, that I didn't know about until recently that I knew there would be something out there to catch my eye. And there was...

And I love it!

I scrap pieced the top together, now I just need to get to the post office to mail it out to my Mom! Can't wait til it's finished!!

Oh, yum!

Well I know I haven't been around for quite some time. I have good reason, we moved out of state and we found out we are expecting a new baby boy! So after Christmas I wasn't feeling so hot for awhile. Then we had moving stuff to do. Now we are here and I feel like I'm getting back to normal. However I've been enjoying food a little more than I normally do, yikes. These are some of my favorite snacks as of lately...

Milk, strawberries (that's nothing new),
and these muffins (they are terribly delightful)

And this smoothie is really good, try it!

Ingredients (all are approximate):
1/2 banana
1 c ice
1/2 c orange juice
1/4 c blackberries
1/4 c frozen blueberries
1 tbsp peanut butter
1/4 c greek yogurt

Blend and enjoy!

Ruffle Jean Skirt

A friend of mine saw a ruffle jean skirt in a store that she really liked for her daughter. But after trying it on, she said it was totally lopsided. So she said "oh Kristine can make a better one for me". So she found some fabric and an old pair of jeans and brought it over.

I just cut it straight across, and added more length to each ruffle.

And of course I had to make a matching hair accessory for it!

Through the Closet I Go...

This year as one of my new year's resolutions, I decided that I would go through my closet and try to fix some of the items I like, but don't wear that often because they "just don't fit right". My husband always asked me why I never wear half the stuff in my closet, so through the closet I go.
This gray long sleeved boyfriend cardigan, I love. It's soft and long, but I felt like it just wasn't quite right. And let's just put it out there, after having kids there just isn't much left to fill it out. It is what it is.

It kept shifting around on the top and I'd have to adjust it, and well that got old real fast. So I just grabbed the extra button, measured it according to the others and sewed it on above the top button.

I think it looks much better, and I will actually wear this way more often! It took about 10 minutes and what's even better? My machine sewed the buttonhole and the button on for me!!

Christmas Wreath

My friend told me about this cute wreath she had seen on Our Best Bites. She said she immediately thought of me, because I've made quite a few of those rolled flowers. I picked up the wreath at Walmart for $3.50 and the silver accent was $ .75, not too shabby. So I just rolled these flowers with the material I had from the yo-yo necklace and glued them onto felt and then glued them onto the wreath. Quick, easy and festive. This is another thing that B had on his Christmas list that is now crossed off!

Yo-Yo Necklace

I've seen these necklaces before, they sell some really cute ones on Etsy. I wanted to try my hand at one. I wanted the colors to be somewhat holiday-ish. I loved these fabrics at the store so this is what I came up with.

After looking at it, I felt like it needed something else, so I added some beads to the centers.

I brought this to the Girl's Night Gift Exchange and I want to make one for me in alternating colors so we don't match! But I love how it turned it, and it was really fun to make.

Fabric Necklace Goodness

I've wanted to make one of these necklaces for soooo long. And I noticed I had a few rolled flowers that I never did anything with, so I decided it was time for a necklace.
This is what I did:
Rolled the flowers and hand sewed them.
I got a piece of felt for the back and glued the flowers on the way that I wanted them.
Then I got a chain and fit it to the length I wanted and added a toggle to the ends.
Then I sewed the ends of the chains onto the felt, the end!

I think I want to make one for Christmas too!

Purse Essentials

A few weeks ago we had a Relief Society Activity. One of the games we had was, what's in your purse? When we were planning the activity one of the commitee members volunteered me to make the prizes for the games. She even donated the fabric! I thought I should make something that you could put in your purse. I came across this tutorial for checkbook covers. I made several and you can tell which one was my first. (the one in the front with the sideways ruffle, oops!)

Well after making several, I thought these would make cute sunglass covers. And I could really use a sunglass cover myself. So I played around with some measurements and came up with these sunglass covers...

I just need to make one more, for me!

Summer Pool Dress

This summer we've been to the pool quite a few times. I've seen a lot of ladies there with cute swimsuits and dresses. I thought maybe I should just make one. I found this knit fabric (my first) that reminded me of the colors of water so I picked it up. I shirred the top and left the dress long. I ended up removing the straps, because it stays up anyway. I love it, it's so comfy and great for lounging around the house. Too bad I made at the end of the summer and not the beginning, I guess there is always next year!

Nice and long

The T-Shirt Dress

Well I love the site Made by Lex. She makes such great clothing. Awhile back she did a dress that I loved. This dress I did is loosely based on that dress, minus the bib section. I used one of Katelin's old t-shirts and we bought some fabric for the bottom. She likes it, I like it, and now I've got to make one for myself!!
